The intensive use of visual display terminals (VDTs) in administrative environments has increased the occurrence of visual discomfort, grouped under the term Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) or digital eye strain. The objective is to evaluate the relationship between prolonged VDT use and the onset of Computer Vision Syndrome among administrative workers of a Zonal Coordination of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador. A quantitative, observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted. The CVSS17 questionnaire was applied to a non-probabilistic convenience sample of 110 workers. Results: It was found that 88.2% (82,2 - 94,2) % of the administrative workers evaluated presented computer vision syndrome with moderate or severe symptoms. The most frequently reported symptoms were visual fatigue, blurred vision, and difficulties with visual accommodation. Prolonged screen use is associated with a high burden of visual symptoms among administrative personnel.
