Since the global health crisis, online learning has gained much more visibility worldwide, and research has increasingly focused on this field due to growing demand. As a result, numerous studies have proposed various techniques for implementing online learning environments that suit different learning profiles, interests, and adaptive methods. However, in the Mauritanian educational context, online learning platforms remain underutilized, and existing ones need improvement to better align with Mauritanian learners’ profiles, learning environments, and educational goals. To achieve this adaptation, a recommendation technique that considers these aspects is essential. As a first step, a study must assess the applicability of existing techniques and enhance or propose new recommendation approaches tailored to this context. Thus, in this paper, we present an ongoing study and a proposition of a recommendation approch adapted to the mauritanian context, preceded by an overview of existing methods and techniques, highlighting their advantages and limitations.
