This review surveys recent developments in the convergence of AI and VR, emphasizing the roles of machine learning, autonomous decision-making, and user-centered design in advancing this field. AI enables the creation of adaptive and responsive virtual spaces, where intelligent agents and systems facilitate interactions that are more natural and personalized for individual users. Based on an analysis of 38 scholarly articles published between 2010 and 2024, sourced from the Scopus database, this paper highlights key advancements, ongoing challenges, and future directions in the integration of AI and VR. The aim is to offer insights that foster further research and innovation in this rapidly evolving domain.
