This volume offers a multidisciplinary overview of serial homicide, synthesizing current research on definitions and prevalence, offender etiology and heterogeneity, victimology, investigative science, and legal and correctional responses. Contributors identify recurring priorities for the field: clearer, more precise, and more consistent definitions; refined and validated typologies; stronger longitudinal and cross-national data; and closer integration of behavioral science into investigative and justice system practice. The concluding chapter draws these insights together into a future agenda for research, policy, and applied work.
