Real-time crime centers are a centralized data hub within a police agency that uses visual technology to provide information to support decision-makers in real time during a response to the occurrence of a crime or an event. In 2013, the New Zealand Police established district command centres in each of their 12 districts to provide police management with an overview of the demand for policing services in real time and to manage the deployment of staff to preventative activities. This chapter reviews the performance of the district command centres between 2014 and 2024 and compares the performance of the centres to the performance of the real-time crime centers used by the Chicago Police Department and the Miami Police Department. It was found that the district command centres have not performed as well as the real-time crime centers in the American cities because the purpose and the role of the New Zealand Police District Command Centres is different from those in America.

摘要
