Multiple myeloma (MM) is a malignant haematologic disorder caused by a monoclonal proliferation of plasma cells and their precursors: B lymphocyte neoplasia with terminal differentiation. The plasma cells produce a monoclonal protein, either a complete immunoglobulin (G, A, D or E) or fragments thereof (e.g. light chains, Bence-Jones protein).
