Urban mobility is crucial for fostering economic activity and social interaction in cities. Rio de Janeiro faces significant challenges, including unplanned growth, congestion, and socioeconomic disparities, which hinder sustainable mobility. This study applies the MOMENTUM method, a Unified Prospective Strategic Planning approach, to project future urban mobility scenarios for Rio de Janeiro, using data from key institutions and expert evaluations. By analyzing historical trends, the method generates three scenarios—pessimistic, trend, and optimistic—offering strategic insights to support sustainable and efficient urban mobility planning. This work aims to guide decision-makers in addressing complex mobility issues aligned with sustainability goals.
