This study investigated the incorporation of citrus fruit peels (orange and lemon) as bioactive agents in soil–cement mixtures, aiming to develop sustainable materials for emergency construction. Limonene, present in the peels, provides antimicrobial and hydrophobic properties, while pectin and cellulose act as binding agents. The experiments included tests for granulometry, strength specification, and moisture absorption, using varying bioactive agents, soil, and cement. It was observed that mixtures containing cement and/or lemon limited mould proliferation, while compositions with bioactive agents showed potential for enhancing mechanical properties. However, the results indicate that a 10% concentration of peels was not sufficient to completely inhibit mould growth. This work contributes to the application of natural materials in temporary housing solutions, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals.

摘要
