This chapter addresses the management of diverticulitis complicated by abscess, stricture, and fistula formation. The natural history of the various presentations of complicated diverticulitis is discussed, as are the indications for elective resection. Technical considerations in the surgical treatment of complicated diverticulitis are reviewed, including the use of laparoscopy and ureteral stents.
