A Comprehensive Assessment of 3D Photogrammetry Tools Using Multi-domain Datasets
摘要
This study presents a comprehensive comparative assessment of 3D photogrammetry techniques, focusing on their effectiveness in reconstructing three-dimensional models. Multi-domain datasets were utilized, encompassing diverse object types such as food, statues, architectural ruins, and insect specimens, all captured using the Extended Depth-of-Field (EDOF) technique to enhance input image clarity. Three leading photogrammetry tools—Agisoft Metashape, Meshroom, and COLMAP—were employed under a unified workflow. For rigorous model evaluation, reconstructed models were quantitatively and qualitatively assessed using geometric metrics (RMSE, Mean Error), completeness, and texture fidelity (PSNR, SSIM). The results indicate that Agisoft Metashape consistently yields the highest-quality models, while Meshroom and COLMAP remain viable options for academic and low-cost environments. This multi-dimensional evaluation provides a valuable reference for selecting photogrammetry solutions tailored to specific reconstruction goals.
