Care and Communication
摘要
Internationally renowned jurist Stefano Rodotà argues (Preta and Donghi, In principio era la cura. Laterza, Roma-Bari, 1995) that the right to treatment is intertwined with the right to illness, understood not only as the right to be treated but also as the right not to be discriminated against simply because of a specific disease or genetic trait. This also includes the right not to be treated and to a particularly intense respect for privacy. The concept of care has been studied and addressed from various perspectives by various scholars over the years. Today, when we talk about care, we usually think about the medical and pharmaceutical aspects. There is a dimension of care that is linked not only to the body but also to the soul of the person, to the interaction with others, to listening, dialogue, communication, empathy and emotions. Taking care of ourselves and others also means finding solutions in unexpected situations and intervening when others around us remain immobile. All these mechanisms form a fundamental toolbox for the pharmacist to deal with the unexpected daily challenges of a profession that is increasingly important in our lives.
