A 61-year-old woman underwent superficial femoral endarterectomy and above-knee femoral–popliteal bypass using contralateral great saphenous vein (GSV). A few months previous she had a superficial femoral artery stent performed for symptoms of intermittent claudication at an outside facility. The stent thrombosed, resulting in critical limb ischemia. Postoperatively, a surgical wound infection in the left groin and thigh was treated with antibiotics and wound care. Predictors of wound complications following lower extremity bypass are discussed.

摘要

A 61-year-old woman underwent superficial femoral endarterectomy and above-knee femoral–popliteal bypass using contralateral great saphenous vein (GSV). A few months previous she had a superficial femoral artery stent performed for symptoms of intermittent claudication at an outside facility. The stent thrombosed, resulting in critical limb ischemia. Postoperatively, a surgical wound infection in the left groin and thigh was treated with antibiotics and wound care. Predictors of wound complications following lower extremity bypass are discussed.
