Introduction, Origin, and Distribution
摘要
Rubus nubigenus Kunth produces quite large fruit that is borne on canes. The adaxial and abaxial portions of the leaf are pubescent. The stipules are adnate or connected to the petiole. R. nubigenus is quite polymorphic and the morphology of prickles and leaves can bear variations. It is a high-altitude species from tropical Western South America growing from 2500 to 4500 m in the Andes. It is native to the highlands or cordilleras of Colombia, and it is also found in Venezuela, Ecuador, Perú, and Bolivia. The author found R. nubigenus growing 2.11 km from the “Piedras Gordas” main entrance of Chingaza National Park. It was observed growing as a bush that dominated over the other native vegetation or as a solitary plant. Rubus nubigenus has two subspecies—Rubus nubigenus subsp. ruizii and Rubus nubigenus var. subinermis.
