Using AI in the Evaluation and Monitoring of the Scientific Proposals
摘要
This comprehensive initiative of Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia (SFRS) aims to leverage artificial intelligence to fundamentally transform Serbia's research and innovation infrastructure by establishing an advanced AI-assisted evaluation and monitoring system designed to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of scientific funding processes. Implementing AI-driven automation can streamline proposal reviews by rapidly analyzing submissions for completeness, relevance, and quality, thus allowing funding agencies to quickly identify and prioritize qualified candidates for grants and support. Predictive analytics, utilizing extensive historical data on funded projects and research outcomes, can be employed to identify emerging trends, forecast the potential societal impact or return on investment of proposed projects, and optimize resource allocation by focusing on areas with the highest potential benefits. The system can also assist in strategically prioritizing research domains aligned with societal needs and national development goals, such as health, climate change mitigation, technological advancement, and sustainable development, ensuring that funding efforts address pressing issues effectively. In line with Horizon Europe’s emphasis on excellence in research and societal impact, Serbia’s Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia (SFRS) will support this transition by fostering a culture of responsible AI adoption, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder collaboration involving academia, industry, government, and civil society. It is important to highlight that SFRS support critical infrastructure, which includes key large economic sectors vital for society and the economy. These sectors encompass energy, transportation, healthcare, digital infrastructure, water supply, and other essential services. Ensuring their security and resilience is crucial for supporting societal needs and national development goals. Focusing on these areas in research and projects helps strengthen societal resilience and contributes to long-term priorities such as stability, economic growth, healthcare, and digital transformation.
