This chapter introduces the growing relevance of digital transformation (DT) research in nonprofit organizations (NPOs), highlighting how technological, organizational, and societal pressures increasingly influence NPOs’ missions and operations. Despite this relevance, research on DT in NPOs remains fragmented, with conceptual ambiguities and limited empirical grounding. The chapter positions the book’s overarching aim to systematize this emerging domain through complementary methodological approaches, including bibliometrics, meta-synthesis, and case-based investigation. It concludes by outlining the book structure and presenting the guiding research questions that steer the overall inquiry.

摘要
