Health in Immigration Detention and Alternatives to Detention
摘要
This chapter synthesises evidence on the health and well-being impacts of immigration detention, drawing primarily on the WHO Country Implementation Guide on Addressing the Challenges in Immigration Detention, and Alternatives to Detention, the WHO World Report on the Health of Refugees and Migrants, and a supplementary rapid literature review to provide a global perspective. This chapter highlights well-documented harms associated with immigration detention worldwide, including physical and mental health hazards and risks of sexual and gender-based violence. The chapter concludes by exploring alternatives to detention and strategies for reducing harm in this context.
