Effective data governance guarantees that information is predictable and trustworthy and doesn’t get abused. Any organization that has an information technology infrastructure needs data integrity and governance. Indicators of poor data integrity and governance are not limited to risks of data theft, breaches that compromise data privacy and regulatory compliance. Governance encompasses people and therefore, it is crucial to make them aware of the negative effects of poor data governance in an organization. This study investigates the potential of digital storytelling as a cutting-edge teaching method to raise awareness and advance data governance concepts in higher education. The study employs a qualitative case study methodology to explore how university stakeholders perceive, engage with, and understand data governance following participation in a digital storytelling intervention. Findings suggest that telling stories improves participation, humanises difficult ideas, and cultivates a greater understanding of ethical data practices. The study concludes by recommending broader integration of digital storytelling in institutional capacity-building initiatives.

摘要
