The Parable of the Talented: The Relationship Between HBCU Pursuit of Carnegie R-1 Designation and Increased Fundraising Success at R-1 Aspirant Institutions
摘要
In this chapter, the author examines the emerging fundraising opportunities associated with HBCUs expanding their research capabilities in pursuit of the Carnegie Foundation’s highest research designation. This activity, in turn, creates unprecedented fundraising opportunities to update research labs, hire and retain research faculty, and provide scholarships for student researchers as these HBCUs develop brand identity as research powerhouses. This case study focuses on these efforts at Howard University, Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T, and Jackson State University.
