Operating Room Basics
摘要
Before entering the operating room, an aspiring ophthalmologist must be equipped with the practices underpinning a successful surgery. These practices are aseptic and sterile technique, surgical ergonomics, and equipment management. Other surgeries may have similar aspects, but ophthalmic surgeries typically use more delicate tools, require microscope or loupe visualization, and have short operative times. By becoming familiar with and practicing these principles, an ophthalmic surgeon will not only safeguard patient well-being but also ensure a comfortable and sustainable career in the operating room. In wet lab, not all the same aseptic procedures are necessary but ergonomics and proper equipment management may still be regularly observed.
