Anterior Vitrectomy
摘要
Anterior vitrectomy is one of the most important skills for cataract surgeons. Almost every cataract surgeon will face vitreous prolapse and posterior capsular rupture during their career, and experience with anterior vitrectomy techniques can reduce the risk of retinal detachment, cystoid macular edema, and iris injury. This surgical technique allows the surgeon to clear the anterior segment of vitreous and prevent transmission of vitreoretinal traction using vitrectomy cutters. A planned anterior vitrectomy is not commonly performed but may be necessarily combined with a traumatic cataract removal or secondary IOL placement (Tan JHY, Karwatowski WSS. Phacoemulsification cataract surgery and unplanned anterior vitrectomy—is it bad news? Eye 16(2):117–120. https://doi.org/10.1038/sj.eye.6700015 , 2002). When intracapsular cataract surgery is performed, vitreous prolapse may be expected almost every time (Hausheer JR, ed. Basic techniques of ophthalmic surgery, 3rd ed. American Academy of Ophthalmology, 2019).
