This chapter examines how the new generation international trade agreements concluded by the EU with third Parties uphold and promote the respect for some principles of the UN Charter and the observance of international law. Firstly, this chapter surveys the norms of such agreements which could be interpreted as a way for the EU to sustain and foster the third principle of UN Charter. Secondly, the provisions of such agreements which look to enhance the seventh principle of UN Charter have been taken into consideration. Since UN principles are related to the purposes of the UN Charter, this chapter examines also the provisions included in the new generation international trade agreements concluded by the EU with third Parties which seem to uphold and promote respect for some purposes of UN Charter. Moreover, the provisions of such agreements which expressly refer to the observance of international law have been surveyed.
