Basic Anatomy: Peripheral Nervous System
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of the neuroanatomy of the peripheral nervous system. The peripheral nervous system (PNS) consists of a complex anatomical system that enables information exchange between the brain and the body. It transmits information from sensory receptors to the brain, relays motor commands from the brain to the body, and regulates homeostasis. This chapter introduces the anatomy and function of the peripheral nervous system and outlines its two main domains: the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The chapter illustrates how sensory information is detected, relayed to the brain, and how this communication produces specific body functions or responses.
