Important Bioactive Phytocompounds of Underutilized Plants and Their Derived Nanoparticles
摘要
Underutilized plants which act as a diverse bioactive phytocompounds include flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and phenolics, which shows meaningful industrial and pharmacological potential. These plants despite their significance in ethnobotany are rich in phytochemical profiles. Recent advancements in green nanotechnology are the nanoparticles that are biosynthesized by the plant extract, result in ecofriendly routes to increase the stability, effectiveness, and bioavailability of these compounds. The nanoparticles derived from the plant extract show various applications such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory activities. In this review, we emphasized the importance of phytocompounds and the underutilized species, especially for the synthesis of nanoparticles and for the unlocking of the bush in environmental cleanup, sustainable agriculture, and in nanomedicines. Systematic screening, molecular characterization, and biocompatibility on these assessments should be focused in the future research in order to use fully medicinal and technological potential of the botanical resources.
