Occupational and Skills Clusters
摘要
Occupational and skills clusters can effectively complement more traditional approaches to traditional industry-based regional analysis. These analytical frameworks often group occupations by shared knowledge, skills, and tasks in ways that highlight regional workforce strengths. As with other analytical frameworks occupational clustering analyses must align with regional priorities, by for instance, focusing the analysis on key labor market segments (e.g., high-tech jobs). These analyses can support multiple user groups such as workforce development agencies, training and postsecondary education providers, and economic development organizations. Moving forward, newer data sources related to real-time labor market information and credential tracking can strengthen and refine these analytical frameworks.
