“I Am an Activist Now”: Conclusion and Reflections on the Brother2Brother Programme
摘要
How do we speak and write about behavioural and cognitive change that unfolds gradually over time? At the same time, how do we capture those moments of creative inquiry where challenging one another plants the seeds for long-term transformation? This chapter concludes Arts for Development, Masculinities and Gender in Malawi by looking back and looking forward, reflecting on the impact of the Brother2Brother programme on the participants and myself. I have structured the chapter simply: what we learn from this work and its place within arts for development and gender-transformative approaches; the changes the participants have experienced; the changes have I undergone as a facilitator and practitioner and how B2B has evolved since its first iteration. By tracing these interwoven processes of personal, social and programmatic change, the chapter considers the lasting effects of arts-based engagement on young people, on myself and on the broader landscape of gender and creative practice in Malawi.
