This chapter introduces a creative gender-transformative programme called Brother2Brother that was implemented at the University of Malawi, Chancellor College from September 2018 to June 2019. It begins by describing the programme, outlining its ideology, approach and application of arts-based tools and showing how these facilitated young people’s critical reflection on masculinities and gender. I then provide a brief overview of the gender landscape for young people in Malawi, including youth-forced interventions implemented over the past three decades, to situate the book within this field. The chapter then outlines the key theoretical frameworks that underpin the analysis in this book, followed by a reflection of my positionality within the programme, alongside that of the participants. Finally, the chapter concludes with an overview of the book’s structure.
