Understanding Lifelong Learning
摘要
The notion of lifelong learning has emerged as one of the most extensively debated concepts within the domain of adult education. Lifelong learning encompasses the continuous acquisition and enhancement of diverse skills, interests, knowledge, and qualifications from early childhood through post-retirement, thereby facilitating the development of competencies necessary for adaptation within a knowledge-based society while recognizing all forms of learning. It represents a broad category of education that occurs outside traditional school settings; thus, it is characterized by voluntary participation rather than compulsory engagement and is fundamentally driven by self-motivation, with the primary aim being personal or professional advancement.
