Emergent Technologies Driving Digital Twins for Geospatial Science
摘要
A digital twin (DT) is a representation of virtual counterpart of a physical entity that integrates real-time data gathered through sensors and advanced data analytics tools. This emergning technology represents a combination of two different technologies: the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that enables a continuous monitoring and intelligent analysis of real-world systems. Machine Learning (ML) and data analytics in combination of IoT, AI, Augmented Reality/Virtual reality, cloud computing, 5G, BIM, and GIS technologies have significantly enhanced the capabilities and applications of digital twins. These tools not only improve the accuracy and efficiency of simulations but also help create digital twins for different industries. As emerging technologies continue to rise, the acceptance of DT is projected to grow rapidly, promoting greater innovation and transformative change across various industries. The future of digital twins looks promising, with ongoing advancements setting the stage for more integrated, interactive, and intelligent systems.
