Flexural Behavior and Impact Resistance of HDPE-Alpha Fiber Composites. Effect of Treatment and Holding Time
摘要
The effects influence of chemical treatment on the flexural behavior and energy absorption of high-density polyethylene/plant fiber composites have been studied. The Alfa fiber is used as reinforcement after being treated with a NaOH aqueous solution of 3% for 24, 48, and 72 h at 25 °C. The results obtained show that the chemical modification of the Alfa fiber affects the mechanical properties of the composites. It was found that the flexural characteristics were improved with the treatment compared to the composites with the untreated fiber. In addition, an increase in the mechanical properties is observed with the increase in the treatment time. This improvement in the flexural and impact properties is attributed to the good adhesion between the matrix and the reinforcement.
