This research examines the development of rural tourism in the Kyrgyz Republic between 2019 and 2024, highlighting its economic, social, cultural, and environmental impacts. Utilizing official statistics from the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic and a comprehensive SWOT analysis, the research explores the dynamics of formal and informal tourism sectors, including the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on visitor numbers. The findings reveal that while rural tourism significantly contributes to local economic growth and cultural preservation, it also presents challenges such as seasonal income fluctuations, infrastructure strain, and environmental degradation. The research emphasizes the critical role of local communities and sustainable practices in balancing tourism growth with ecological conservation. A coherent strategy for advancing sustainable rural tourism in Kyrgyzstan should be predicated upon the modernization of infrastructural systems, the cultivation of ecological consciousness among visitors and local communities, and the institutionalization of robust regulatory mechanisms. Such a multidimensional approach is intended to safeguard the singular ecological and cultural patrimony of the country over the long term and engender inclusive socio-economic dividends that reinforce local livelihoods, stimulate endogenous development trajectories, and integrate peripheral regions into broader circuits of sustainable growth.
