Best Practices in Climate-Smart Transitions of Agrarian Economies to Support Sustainable Rural Development in BRICS+
摘要
The research is devoted to a theoretical explanation of the essence of the climate-smart transition of the BRICS+ agrarian economy and the development of scientific, methodological, and practical recommendations for accelerating this transition and ensuring that it contributes to the sustainable development of rural areas in BRICS+. Drawing on statistics from 2023–2025, the research examines advanced practices in the climate-smart transition of the agrarian economy in support of sustainable rural development within BRICS+, analyzed using trend and regression methods. As a result, the authors constructed a model of sustainable rural development in BRICS+ under the influence of land-related factors and a set of organizational and technological factors associated with the climate-smart transition of the agrarian economy in 2023–2025. The theoretical significance of the developed model lies in its identification of the patterns of sustainable rural development specific to BRICS+. Forecasts of the spatial economy of BRICS+ up to 2028 demonstrate that the climate-smart transition of the agrarian economy can reverse the trend of population outflow from rural areas. A methodological framework for crisis management of the socio-economic development of rural territories in BRICS+ is proposed, centered on increasing the flexibility of business processes in climate-smart agriculture. The research also offers original recommendations for improving the organizational and technological foundations of agricultural digitalization, the implementation of which will allow the climate-smart agrarian economy to become a growth driver for rural areas in BRICS+ . In turn, this will enable more sustainable development of BRICS+ rural territories through increases in agricultural labor productivity and a rising share of rural residents within the population structure, thus initiating a process of de-urbanization in BRICS+ .
