Development of an HTML-Based Website to Generate Braille Text and Images for Automatic Paper Embossing
摘要
This work presents a web page that contains the algorithms that allow the automatic generation of alphabetic Braille text files, alphabetic Braille Grade 1 text files in Spanish, and dot matrices for the printing of embossed images, using computer vision techniques. Materials such as iris paper and cardboard were used for the printing process. The educational content developed for this work includes basic words, short sentences, and an unpublished story about Ecuadorian animals, oriented to the reading initiation of visually impaired children. An automatic Braille printer previously developed from a Braille printing robot has been used for the verification of the results. This robot was developed from a Cartesian robot integrated with a punching system. The results presented in this article show the potential for the system to improve Braille literacy and accessibility to educational material.
