Dad Was Right: Flute Beats Out Hockey
摘要
At the age of 12 in 1952, I was in a quandary as to whether I would start playing flute in the Edmonton School Boys Band or continue playing ice hockey. The practices for both activities were on the same night! A wise word from my father helped to resolve the issue. “Many years down the road you may not be able to play hockey,” he said. “But you might still be playing the flute.” And more than 70 years later, this is indeed the case. While I retired from symphonic playing in 2024 (Chap. 27 ), I continue to play my flute privately for family members and for seniors in residences, where the audiences are very forgiving and most appreciative.
