摘要
SinceSteacie Prize selection panel 2013, I have had the honor of serving as Chair of the Steacie PrizeSteacie Prize Selection Panel, which each year recognizes a scientist or engineer aged 40 or younger for outstanding research done in Canada. At a public ceremony held in their home institution, the recipient of the Prize receives an award certificate, a cheque, and a copy of the biography of Steacie by M.C. King. The Prize was established in 1963 in honor of E.W.R. Steacie FRS FRSC, an eminent Canadian chemist, who served with distinction as president of the National Research CouncilSteacie, As president of NRC of Canada during 1952–62. The Prize is administered by the Trustees of the Steacie Memorial FundSteacie Memorial Fund, which is a a private charitable foundation. The quality of the past winners of the Prize is exceptional—nearly all become FRSC and about 25% become FRS. For these reasons, the Prize is widely considered as Canada’s most prestigious early career award for scientists and engineers.
