Writing Waves in the Ocean, a Serendipitous Project
摘要
In the fall of 1973, a managing editor from Elsevier Scientific Publishing CompanyElsevier scientific publishing company came to UBC’s Institute of Oceanography looking for Paul LeBlondPaul LeBlond to write a book on ocean waves. As Paul was away on sabbatical, I was then approached to take on this task. In the end, Paul and I agreed to do this project jointly. It took us three years (1974–77) to complete the 600-page book, which appeared in the spring of 1978. Despite its high pricePrice of book, Waves in the Ocean tag, the book was a great success with both researchers and students because of its extensive coverage of all classes of ocean waves and their interactions with each other and their environment.
