Sedimented Experiences
摘要
The final chapter delves into the philosophical and artistic implications of Bataille’s narrative at Lascaux. I explore how his conception of art making becomes a remedy to Hegel’s ‘claustrophobic progressivism.’ I expand upon Bataille’s conception of art as sensual, disorderly, and fundamentally non-discursive. ‘Sedimented Experiences’ provides a reading of Bataille’s creativity that focuses on his conception of non-discursivity, rather than the canonical concept of the ‘formless,’ as suggested by Rosalind Krauss and Yve-Alain Bois. This chapter opens up the discussion surrounding Bataille’s creativity from a processual rather than aesthetic dimension.
