As a natural cause of the increase in adopting technology and tools in journalistic practice, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), a series of challenges appear such as algorithmic bias and disinformation, putting journalism under the risk of eroding its core values. Accuracy and transparency considered as journalistic ideals and ethics are needed to be strictly ensured. In this chapter, by integrated methods such as document analysis and in-depth interview, the current state of AI usage and ethics is examined in some Southeast Asian countries. As indicated, journalists and reporters in this region use AI at most of the news and content production stages, such as research, data analysis, fact-checking, and grammar or spelling editing. However, the adoption is now lacking the regulations at both national and organisational levels. With the combination of theoretical and practical approach, this study provides not only the description but also recommendations for policy and professional practice in order to construct an ethical, transparent and professional journalism landscape in Southeast Asia.

摘要
