In healthcare, value is enhanced by maximizing outcomes while minimizing costs. This chapter explores strategies to improve value in the treatment of infants under 1 year of age with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). We examine the advantages of targeted screening over universal screening, approaches to optimize imaging modalities, the implementation of preventative measures, and the possible role of telemedicine. A representative DDH case is also presented to illustrate these principles in everyday clinical practice.

摘要

In healthcare, value is enhanced by maximizing outcomes while minimizing costs. This chapter explores strategies to improve value in the treatment of infants under 1 year of age with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). We examine the advantages of targeted screening over universal screening, approaches to optimize imaging modalities, the implementation of preventative measures, and the possible role of telemedicine. A representative DDH case is also presented to illustrate these principles in everyday clinical practice.
