Technology and L2 Teachers’ Cultural Identity
摘要
Chapter 6 delves into the multifaceted relationship between technology and L2 teachers’ cultural identity, critically examining various conceptualizations of this relationship using different metaphors. Through a critical examination of theoretical frameworks like technology identity and technological determinism, Chap. 6 demonstrates how L2 teachers’ beliefs about technology can significantly influence their cultural identity development. Highlighting the significant role of cyberspace as a platform for both practicing and disseminating cyberculture, the chapter depicts L2 teachers’ multiple roles in cyberspace. Chapter 6 then maps out the integration of technology into L2 pedagogy, referring to the issues caused by the digital divide and what this implies for teachers’ cultural identities. Subsequent sections of Chap. 6 concentrate on technology-induced values, which are a mixed blessing for L2 teachers in L2 classrooms. Finally, Chap. 6 tries to conceptualize the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the cultural identities of L2 teachers, uncovering both possibilities and predicaments. Chapter 6 concludes by exploring a future where L2 teachers’ cultural identity is reinforced and enhanced through prompt engineering, paving the way for a more responsive and inclusive teaching space.
