Defending Gun Violence: Transcending the Rhetoric of Apologia
摘要
This chapter analyzes a short video on YouTube. Gun Violence is a two-and-a-half-minute act of apologia that reframes Fetterman’s controversial decision to detain a jogger at gunpoint as a brave attempt to defend his town and to prevent what might have been the next elementary school massacre. The chapter utilizes Burkean dramatism in general and the pentad in particular to examine Fetterman’s strategic retelling of these events.
