Rather than replacing clinicians, AI serves as a collaborator that enhances human judgment, enabling ophthalmologists to focus on empathy, communication, and ethical decision-making. The chapter examines key ethical considerations, including transparency, accountability, and bias mitigation, required to ensure trustworthy implementation. It also highlights the transformative potential of conversational AI systems, such as ChatGPT and Med-PaLM, in medical education and clinical reasoning support.
