Educating for the Circular Economy Era: A Course on End-of-Life Product Management
摘要
The transition to a circular economy (CE) is crucial for addressing global challenges like climate change and resource scarcity. This shift requires manufacturers to extend their responsibility across the entire product lifecycle, including end-of-life (EoL) product management. This study focuses on developing a cross-disciplinary, 1 ECTS course, titled “End-of-Life Product Management: Operations, Policies and Resource Utilization,” designed to enhance specialized/technical CE skills. The course aims to equip engineering and business students with the necessary knowledge and skills in areas such as compliance and policy management, quality and safety in EoL product management, reverse logistics and operations management, and critical resource utilization. The constrained 1 ECTS format presents a challenge in effectively covering the extensive subject matter in an engaging manner for students with diverse academic or professional backgrounds. This paper details the course development process within a larger EU-funded project focused on supporting the twin transition (green and digital), addressing the challenge of maximizing content delivery and student engagement within the limited timeframe.
