Peyronie’s Disease
摘要
Peyronie’s disease is a condition affecting the corporal cylinders of the penis which may present with pain, penile bending or instability, which may preclude penetrative sexual intercourse. Conservative management to minimise progression during Peyronie’s disease’s acute phase, has long been sought. Although theoretically applicable to the condition, oral therapies to reduce inflammation, and subsequently decrease fibrosis, have proven remarkably ineffective as monotherapy during the acute phase. Intralesional injection therapy, particularly with collagenase clostridium histolyticum, has proven an effective way of reducing penile bending by 20° in 30–40% of men in the chronic phase of the condition. Combinations of medications with physical, and surgical treatment options, offers hope for less-invasive management for this condition in the future.
