Prostatic obstruction secondary to benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is a common condition in men over 50, characterised by storage and voiding lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). First line treatment for symptomatic patients is medical therapy and this chapter discusses the 3 main medication groups utilised: α1-adrenoceptors antagonists (alpha blockers), 5α -reductase inhibitors (5ARIs) and phosphodiesterase 5 Inhibitors (PDE5Is).
