Perioperative Skin Preparation and Surgical Scrubbing
摘要
Surgical scrub and sterile skin preparation are essential components of the preoperative routine for surgical interventions. These practices aim to reduce the risk of surgical site infections (SSIs) by effectively removing transient and resident microorganisms from the skin of surgical personnel and patients. Common agents in the United Kingdom include povidone-iodine, chlorhexidine and alcohol based solutions. This chapter discusses their mechanism of action. Adverse effects are rare.
