Empowering Future Leaders Through 2TBL: Integrating Team- and Task-Based Learning for Effective Education on SDGs and Professional Communication

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and powerful communication skills in professional settings are very important in dealing with the global challenges of the present day, which include poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability. This paper investigates the impact of combining Team-Based Learning (TBL1) and Task-Based Learning (TBL2)—an approach we refer to as “2TBL”—on the students’ engagement with SDGs while developing their communication skills. The project involved cooperation between the IODSE and CODA teams which helped them to jointly plan the content and manage the event with the participation of 52 attendees aged between 15 and 23. The findings indicated that the 2TBL method was very helpful in the development of teamwork, leadership, soft skills, and at the same time turned the students towards the application of these skills in the field of sustainable development. This approach indicates that active learning is a vital part of the overall educational process on the SDGs and communication that enhances the teaching and learning outcomes.
