Effect of Organic Fertilizers and Seed Rate on Growth and Yield of Fenugreek
摘要
Many studies have been conducted on the response of fenugreek plant to organic and inorganic fertilizers, to determine the most economical and effective source of nutrients in plant nutrition and growth. Although effect of interaction between organic and inorganic fertilizers on plant growth and seed yield was statistically insignificant under fenugreek in this study, there was a tendency for a beneficial effect when organic fertilizer was used in combination with a half dose of inorganic fertilizer compared to a half dose of inorganic fertilizer without organic fertilizer on most parameters influencing plant growth and seed yield. Choice of interaction of organic and inorganic fertilizers in agricultural practice is further advisable. Horizontal installation of board-like organic fertilizers is probably not the most effective way to use them in fenugreek production. A comparison and combination with other variants of organic fertilizers such as strips of cattle manure, manure spread as a mulch and under the sowing furrow, and combined application of manure with straw on plant growth and seed yield are recommended. It is encouraged to examine whether the positive effect of organic fertilizer used for fenugreek in this study is consistent in the long-term application or if its effectiveness varies among different varieties with different yield potential is encouraged. Future experiments should also focus on determining the economic benefits of the application of this organic fertilizer in weed control and the impact of improved nutrient uptake on the phytochemistry, especially in the medicinal components in fenugreek.
