Digital technologies now enable, given that access is possible, ease of online communication. These forms of communication, whether via text, via forums, audio or video conferencing, can be used across a wide age range for a variety of purposes. An element of online behaviours that has shifted as a consequence of these facilities is the level of peer interactions in educational contexts. Peers are seen to be communicating and discussing points concerned with learning and learning tasks, to be sharing documents and drafts, and to be engaged with both of these activities simultaneously. Communication facilities now enable synchronous as well as asynchronous interactions, and there is a reported shift in the level of each of these instances, both inside and outside the school.
