Nowadays, artificial intelligence tools are increasingly used in the processes of knowledge transferring, learning and in conducting scientific research. It can be assumed that in the near future their usage will become common, which will affect the change in the process of transformation of science and time management by students. It seems that AI offers enormous development opportunities but, at the same time, carries certain threats, mainly of an ethical nature. Therefore, one of the new challenges of higher education management is the need to regulate the principles of using AI tools in the teaching and learning process in general as well as when writing theses. Many universities around the world have noticed this new challenge and have already introduced appropriate internal regulations and guidelines, others are only introducing or modifying existing ones. However, regulations cannot be created ad hoc and, above all, their content should be a response to real challenges and threats. Among other things, research must be conducted in the field of social sciences and related disciplines in terms of the scope and methods of using AI tools by the academic community and the degree of acceptance for the introduced solutions and regulations as well as ethical issues. The article meets this need. Taking into account conclusions drawn from the authors’ team research being presented in this article will contribute to the better usage of the potential of AI in education. Combining AI technology with social sciences, including behavioural sciences can also contribute to preventing potential abuses.
