Secure Data Storage and Retrieval in Cloud Computing Using Homomorphic Encryption
摘要
This paper deals with the problem of securely storing and searching data in clouds based on homomorphic encryption. As such, with the convenience of resource scalability and on-demand access, there are still numerous security concerns in the cloud environment regarding the confidentiality and integrity of data in both storage and computation. Although data needs to be decrypted to be processed using traditional encryption techniques, this reveals sensitive information. Homomorphic encryption is a revolutionary cryptographic technology that can compute over encrypted data without first decrypting it, ensuring security and privacy. In this work, we present a homomorphic encryption-based scheme for secure data querying that efficiently incorporates and then (under appropriate conditions) removes encryption-related computation overhead. The special model allows us to process encrypted queries and data efficiently, and thus data confidentiality can be guaranteed during the whole process, even for the service provider. Proposed model is applicable and efficient in real-world cloud environments, which is very suitable for practical use to trade off security and computational efficiency. The work presented in this article promotes privacy-preserving technology in cloud computing and provides a pioneering platform for further research and applications regarding secure cloud-based homomorphically encrypted systems.
